The terms “wellness” and “nutrition” are trendy and used very loosely by many individuals and companies. When I work with my clients, my philosophy centers around three concepts:
An individualized approach
Nutrition is not a one-size-fits all matter. Everybody and every body is different. Just as the genetic makeup, environment, and lifestyle of each individual person varies, so do the dietary and nutritional needs. This concept is called bio-individuality and explains why a diet that works for one person may not suit another. When making recommendations, I consider an assessment of your unique needs along with your preferences and lifestyle to develop an effective and sustainable plan that will work for you.
Based on up to date research
I will forever be a student of nutrition. With new research constantly being performed and released, I will stay up to date on relevant topics and incorporate new information into practice as appropriate. The amount of (sometimes conflicting) nutrition information out there can be overwhelming. I can boil down the facts and take the time to explain technical information to you in an approachable way.
In a judgement-free zone
Expect a judgement-free environment. I do what I do because I love helping people achieve better health. Whether you are a working mom looking to clean up your diet and lose weight or a marathoner looking to better fuel your runs, I will meet you wherever you are with your diet and lifestyle and help guide you to where you want to be. Our goals are aligned – we’re in this together!
What is a purposeful plate?
A purposeful plate is one composed with intention. It is both nourishing and delicious and it is consumed in a mindful way. Whether it is a healing food or a celebratory glass of wine, everything you eat has a purpose. Purposeful plate also has a second meaning for me. I worked for several years in a career that left me unfulfilled and unhappy. Pursuing my true passion through a career shift into nutrition was a huge leap of faith. But now, living my purpose by helping others improve their health, it is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
